Job: Professor of Information Technology and Advising & Retention Coordinator at Middle Georgia State College in Macon, GA.
About Me: My entire life I have been involved in education, for several years as a student plus a couple positions training and instructing part-time. I have the opportunity to be a full-time faculty member at a great college since 2009. Teaching seems very natural to me, I enjoy helping people grow and learn. I am currently working on my PhD at Georgia State University.
I have spent the majority of my time doing school work or working as a Network Administrator, Project Manager, and running my own IT Consulting business. I completed my Masters Degree in Management Information Systems (MMIS) after earning my Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology. After the MMIS I was able to earn my Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in 2011.
I am always learning something new. I thrive on knowing more. If I am not doing something to move my life forward I feel complacent and uncomfortable. I am not nearly as far in my life right now that I would have expected to be -but it is a journey and I am still moving. I want to do something to make some money and be happy.
Interest in e-training: My plans after completing the Ph.D. in Instructional Technology are to continue teaching higher education. I am not sure if I will end up teaching Networking, Information Assurance, Instructional Technology, or Business - but I can certainly be confident that at least a portion of my future will involve teaching or training using online delivery. Perhaps I will have an opportunity to work in an administrative leadership position. I certainly feel that I have the potential to do any of these positions well. I currently teach online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses which all require my to use some online components.
